Dr. Tammy Berman is the Director of Design at Engines for Education, where she leads the design of Story-Centered Curriculum projects. She is also the Vice President of Design at Socratic Arts. Prior to joining Engines for Education and Socratic Arts, Dr. Berman was a Vice President of Design at Cognitive Arts Corporation, where she designed web-based, learn-by-doing courses for university and corporate clients. She also consulted to several “big six” consulting firms, as well as government agencies, designing new training programs and evaluating and redesigning existing courses.

Dr. Berman is co-author of several articles and book chapters on designing goal-based scenario learning environments. She holds a Ph.D. in the Learning Sciences from Northwestern University. Her dissertation is entitled, “Why Corporate Training Doesn't Work: Trainers' Common Misconceptions about Learning; Resulting Course Design Errors; and Design Principles for Constructing Effective Training Courses.”
