In the Civil War GBS, students interact individually with a computer simulation, pursuing their own agendas. The simulation describes events that transpire, arriving at certain points at which decisions must be made. When a decision point is reached, students are able to (a) gather information relevant to the decision via a set of on-screen buttons, (b) isolate alternative solutions (either propose them via a natural language interface, or ask the system to generate them), and then, (c) commit to a plan (either one of the alternatives, or defer decision).
