Movie Reader is a program intended to remedy the problems in reading instruction. It is intended to serve as the moral equivalent of a parent who is educated, aware of what his child does and does not know, and who has the infinite patience to question his child about anything he thinks the child might not understand during the course of the movie. The idea is to have the child learn to understand by learning to ask the right questions. When pursuing a question, the child should be able to pick up relevant background knowledge incidentally, as needed, with the help made available by the instructor who has prepared a film using Movie Reader.
