Problems with Teaching with Cases

It's difficult to apply case-based teaching to the classroom for a number of reasons. The first reason is that detailed story-telling is next to impossible in a classroom where one teacher faces thirty students. The story that is applicable to Jane may bear no relevance for Johnny. The second reason is that a teacher may not have experience with a suitable breadth of cases in the domain under discussion. A third reason is that even if the teacher does have an applicable story, the story will be branded with that teacher's point-of-view. Ideally, a student should be able to tap into many teachers to get applicable stories illustrating multiple points-of-view.
